Ashton under Hill Open Gardens

Our 2010 Open Gardens Event

.

Another Year of Sunshine!

In 2010 we again enjoyed two days of fine and warm weather, although the rain came down with a vengeance just after the event closed on the Sunday! Around 1200 visitors were in Ashton for the weekend, and we met some lovely people from Hertfordshire, Dorset, Staffordshire, Solihull, Hampshire, Gwent, Rowley Regis and many, many other places, including much further afield from Japan and the United States. Thank you to all our visitors for their support.

“We had an absolutely wonderful day - everyone was so friendly and one gentleman even invited us to see his gardens even though they weren't on the list.”

“The three boys who played and sang in the church were marvellous and I'm sure they will go far if they decide on a musical career. The ladies of the WI provided splendid tea and cakes in the village hall.”

“Thank you for your village hospitality: everybody was most pleasant and helpful. Please thank everyone involved including the youngsters at the school. All the very best for future events!!” (Colton Produce Guild)

“We had a wonderful day. The owners are so proud of their gardens, it is lovely to chat. The cream tea and bubbles were quickly consumed 15 minutes before we left. It was great to see the youngsters involved too. Superb organisation, wonderful gardens with friendly owners and great refreshments. One of our members said it was the best garden club outing he had ever been on.” (Rickmansworth U3A)

“Please pass on our thanks to all those who worked so hard to make the Open Gardens weekend such an enjoyable occasion. All the gardens were lovely and obviously a lot of effort had gone into making the event a great success…the organisation could not be faulted, and it was good to have an excellent garden location and description brochure. All the garden owners were very friendly and pleased to chat.”

“A lovely garden (Bredon Hill Middle School). There is so much in it of interest. A joy to visit” and “Pleased to see the ‘growing’ initiative being encouraged in young minds.”

“Every one of our members had a lovely time, and they appreciated all the hard work that went into making the gardens so beautiful. Everyone we met, from the church to the tea venues, to the gardens, was so pleasant and welcoming. The prices for teas, plants, ices and so on were very reasonable and no-one was trying to 'rip us off' as is so often the case in events these days.” (Cheers Social Club)
