A Record-Breaking Year! In 2009 we hosted the highest-ever number of visitors to our Open Gardens event - over 1500 in all - who converged on Ashton in the warm sunshine of a June weekend from as far afield as Buckinghamshire and South Wales as well as from the local counties of Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Warwickshire. Visitors enjoyed wandering throuhg the village and the 25 uniquely individual gardens open for viewing. Many people said how they appreciated the warmth of their welcome and the variety of gardens on display – and also the refreshments! "Thank you for a wonderful afternoon it was a delightful few hours we spent with you all. Your attention to detail was first class."
"We all had a wonderful time on Saturday, and the weather was perfect! The only problem we had was that we didn´t have long enough - we only saw 9 gardens! So we are definitely coming back next year and going to stay longer."
"Well done to everyone, very organised and everyone is so pleasant, and I think every one of our party bought plants, so a very successful trip."
"Thank you so much for the excellent day we couldn't fault the organisation and the gardens were remarkable; such a high standard."
"I particularly enjoyed all the hilly gardens; not so easy gardening on a slope."
"Thank you for a very enjoyable day in your village. The cream teas were fantastic! "
"Your organisation was superb. I picked up lots of ideas to improve our own Open Garden days such as the minibus, ice cream, several tea sites and helpers from the Guides. We appreciated all these things as well as seeing lovely gardens, giving us ideas and plants to look for." |
